Earlier this week, Microsoft seemed to curtail much of the swirling conversation around its brand’s future with both a video and posting on its official site.
They confirmed that four games previously exclusive to the platform were going to other consoles – the PS5 and the Switch specifically. Two were multiplayer titles (“Sea of Thieves” and “Grounded”), and two were single-player titles (“Pentiment” and “Hi-Fi Rush”) that were a good year or so old.
All were smaller titles, and the company made it clear neither “Starfield” or the upcoming “Indiana Jones” game were going to make the leap anytime soon but they would never rule out a game going to any other platform.
It hasn’t stopped the talk though as a new report at The Verge (via VGC) indicates Microsoft is reportedly weighing up the idea of releasing “Microsoft Flight Simulator” and the next “Doom” game on rival consoles.
In addition, they’ve corroborated previous claims that “Gears of War” has been considered for release on non-Xbox platforms as well. Final decisions reportedly haven’t been made on these games.
Whatever the case, it looks like that initial batch of four titles could well be just the beginning.
