Paramount+ has announced an April 4th premiere date for the fifth and final season of “Star Trek: Discovery” on the streaming service.
The final run with Captain Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and her crew will leave space dock with two episodes on that date, with new episodes released weekly after that.
The new season sees the crew of the USS Discovery voyage across the galaxy, searching for an immense ancient power – and attempting to outrace the desperate foes who wish to possess it themselves.
The crew includes Kelpian alien Saru (Doug Jones), engineer Paul Stamets (Anthony Rapp), Doctor Hugh Culber (Wilson Cruz), Starfleet consultant Cleveland “Book” Booker (David Ajala), Trill scientist Adira Tal (Blu del Barrio) and Starfleet Academy instructor Sylvia Tilly (Mary Wiseman).
Joining them for the new season are Callum Keith Rennie as Captain Rayner, Eve Harlow as Moll and Elias Toufexis as L’ak. Returning guest stars include David Cronenberg as Kovich, Oded Fehr as Charles Vance, and Tig Notaro as Jett Reno.
The series was shot in late 2022 but once it became clear this would be the final season, additional filming took place for several days in April to give the show a proper send-off.
