Warner Bros. Pictures is the one to have landed “Creed” and “Black Panther” filmmaker Ryan Coogler’s next feature film – an untitled period vampire thriller starring Michael B. Jordan according to THR.
Coogler wrote the script and will direct. He’ll also produce alongside Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian are also producing. Specifics of the plot are under wraps but it’s an original work and is said to have franchise potential.
Warners beat out Universal Pictures and Sony Pictures after several weeks of jostling to land the feature which will feature the re-teaming of Coogler and Jordan who first broke out together with “Fruitvale Station”.
Since then the pair’s joint works have been critical and commercial successes. Production on this film is moving fast with shooting gearing up to begin as early as April in New Orleans.
Trade sources indicate that an ownership component regarding the film will see Coogler regain certain rights.
