Amazon has premiered the first official poster for its reimagining of the cult classic 1980s Patrick Swayze-led film “Road House”. The one-sheet arrives ahead of the first trailer tomorrow.
The new film’s star Jake Gyllenhaal is front and center on the poster, his famous hairy chest shaved bare and blood spattered in the artwork which tells people to ‘Take it Outside’.
Helmed by filmmaker Doug Liman (“Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” “The Bourne Identity,” “Edge of Tomorrow”), the new version follows a former UFC fighter who takes a job as a bouncer at a rough-and-tumble roadhouse in the Florida Keys but soon discovers that not everything is what it seems in this tropical paradise.
Conor McGregor, Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp and Bob Menery co-star while Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry penned the script.
The new version came under minor controversy last month as some of the team involved were reportedly upset that Amazon Studios is choosing to release the film straight to the Prime Video streaming platform and not giving it a theatrical release.
It was also rumored to be one of the highest-testing films in Liman’s career. “Road House” hits the service on March 21st.
