Several bits of news have popped up on the “Rick and Morty” front over at Adult Swim.
First up, it has been confirmed the Emmy-winning series won’t return for its eighth season until sometime in 2025 – meaning no new episodes in 2024.
This ends the show’s recent streak of premiering new episodes annually, with the reason for the push being put down to the writer’s strike delaying producton of episodes.
Also today though, the show’s recent seventh season which ended last month has now arrived on Max – meaning the entire series to date is on the streaming service.
Then comes the first footage from “Rick and Morty: The Anime,” a ten-episode spin-off series that will premiere this year.
Takashi Sano (“Tower of God”), who previously directed anime shorts “Rick and Morty vs. Genocider” and “Summer Meets God (Rick Meets Evil),” directs the series which was produced by Telecom Animation Film.
