As rom-com “Anyone But You” has crossed the $100 million global box-office mark, its male lead star Glen Powell has set his next project – the John Patton Ford-directed wild revenge thriller “Huntington”.
Powell will play Becket Redfellow, the heir to a multi-billion-dollar fortune who will stop at nothing to get what he deserves…Or what he thinks he deserves.
Ford penned the script which is said to be inspired by the Alec Guinness-led British 1949 comedy caper classic “Kind Hearts and Coronets”. This skewers darker but is still said to be full of witty banter.
Filming aims to begin in the Summer with Studiocanal, Blueprint and Participant all onboard to produce and finance. Additionally A24 is reportedly close to finalizing a domestic distribution deal.
Powell also recently spoke with Variety and gave a brief update on the status of a third “Top Gun” in which he’s set to star in alongside Tom Cruise and Miles Teller. He says:
“There is going to be some fun stuff being announced soon…but it was confidential to me. I talk to [Joseph] Kosinski, Cruise, and Jerry [Bruckheimer] all the time. There is stuff happening and it sounds very exciting. I don’t know when I’ll be going back…I’m sure there is a jet waiting for me sometime in the future.”
Powell is coming off a very busy period – he’ll be seen this June in Richard Linklater’s highly acclaimed dark comedy “Hit Man,” and is one of the cast of Lee Isaac Chung’s “Twister” reimagining “Twisters” at Universal Pictures.
