Oscar winners Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn along with Regina Hall are all set to star in “There Will Be Blood” and “Phantom Thread” director Paul Thomas Anderson’s next film.
The untitled project has been set up at Warner Bros. Pictures and will begin filming on January 21st in California. Anderson wrote the script, and he will produce the film with Sara Murphy and Adam Somner.
The project is currently untitled with story details under wraps. However it is said to have a contemporary setting and will be the “most commercial” film Anderson has attempted so far.
As a result, it will have one of his biggest budgets to date with a figure said to be approaching $100 million. DiCaprio, Penn and Hall are the leads, but the new film is said to boast a big ensemble cast.
It will mark Anderson’s first work since “Licorice Pizza” was released and went on to score three Oscar nominations including Best Picture. However it was a commercial failure, taking just $33.3 million in box-office off a $40 million budget.
The project sees Anderson reuniting with Warner Bros. Pictures co-chief Michael De Luca whom was working at New Line when “Boogie Nights” was made.
