“The Walking Dead,” “Burning” and “Invincible” star Steven Yeun has dropped out of the Marvel Studios team-up film “Thunderbolts”.
Yeun was first linked to the film back in February but to date, Marvel has never officially announced the casting. The project would have seen Yeun reunite with the same writing/directing team on his acclaimed 2023 Netflix series “Beef”.
With the writers and actors strikes severely impacting the film’s production, the project has yet to begin filming and thus it’s likely scheduling issues for the in-demand Yeun came into play.
The film’s cast includes Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/US Agent, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, and Harrison Ford as Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross.
Filming on the project is now expected to begin around March/April ahead of a July 25th 2025 release.
Yeun will be soon seen in Bong Joon Ho’s sci-fi “Mickey 17” and the Kristen Stewart-led Sundance feature “Love Me”.
