By Apple TV+ has renewed its Gary Oldman-led darkly comedic spy thriller series “Slow Horses” for a fifth season, making it the longest-running Apple TV+ series to date.
News of the renewal comes hot on the heels of the third season finale which aired on December 27th. A fourth season has already been shot and will air sometime in 2024.
Oldman will return in the fifth season as irascible and flatulent spook Jackson Lamb, alongside Kristin Scott Thomas as MI5 chief Diana Taverner, Jack Lowden as River Cartwright and Christopher Chung as cocky geek Roddy Ho.
The series follows a dysfunctional team of British intelligence agents, washed up agents who’ve made career ending mistakes and have dumped at Lamb’s Slough House.
Based on Mick Herron’s spy novels of the same name, the fifth season will be based on the book “London Rules”. The synopsis is as follows:
“Everyone is suspicious when resident tech nerd Roddy Ho has a glamorous new girlfriend, but when a series of increasingly bizarre events occur across the city, it falls to the Slow Horses to work out how everything is connected. After all, Jackson Lamb knows that in the world of espionage, ‘London Rules’ should always apply.”
Previously the production would shoot two seasons back-to-back, thus double season renewals came through. That’s not the case this time.
