Out promoting the first part of this two-film sci-fi epic “Rebel Moon,” director Zack Snyder has revealed that one property he would totally take a crack at adapting for film is “Fortnite”.
Released in 2017, the free-to-play battle royale game became an overwhelming success and cultural phenomenon with more than 125 million players in less than a year and within around two years the game had generated $9 billion in gross revenue.
In a recent interview with eTalk, Snyder was asked about his love for the massively successful live service game and if that would ever translate into him making a movie based on it. From the sounds of it, he’s good to go:
“I mean, of course, I really wanted to make some ‘Fortnite’ skins for [‘Rebel Moon’], first of all, just as the most obviously basic involvement. But, yeah, ‘Fortnite’ is an amazing world and it’s an amazing distraction, for me.
It’s really cool. The alchemy they’ve created there is really unique. When I started playing it, I thought I knew what it was and then it was something entirely different.”
Snyder adds that people shouldn’t rule out the possibility he might do such a film, saying “You definitely don’t know. You definitely can say never say never. That’s my mantra in this business.”
No “Fortnite” film has been announced as in development as yet, but with a “Minecraft” movie on the way starring Jason Momoa, such a possibility isn’t out of the question.
