The seventh season of “Rick and Morty” wraps on December 17th, and the eighth season is already so far ahead timetable wise that the writers and producers are working on the show’s ninth season right now.

As we know, the Adult Swim animated series has an order that will see it run through to a tenth season which, going by the rollout, will presumably air in 2026.

Speaking with ComicBook.com, showrunner and executive producer Scott Marder has teased that they’re already floating ideas for a tenth season and it sounds like it will serve as the conclusion of a ‘saga’ that goes right back to the show’s beginning.

Just what the nature of that saga is isn’t clear, he says:

“I can’t tease a lot. I can tell you we’re in the middle of writing season nine. I can tell you that we’ve already got a couple ideas for Season 10 that are already kind of pinned. There is a full plan for a full 10-season saga.

So if people are on board with what we’ve been doing the past couple seasons, we’re intending to give them more of that. But there are certainly arcs and cool things and big surprises in store.”

Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden took over the lead roles voicing Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith, respectively in the current season which marked the first produced without co-creator and star Justin Roiland.
