Murderbot
Apple TV+ has picked up the ten-episode sci-fi series “Murderbot” based on Martha Wells’ award-winning novel series “The Murderbot Diaries”. Chris and Paul Weitz will write, direct and produce for Paramount Television Studios.
Alexander Skarsgård will play the lead role of a self-hacking security android afraid of human emotion. The being must hide its free will and complete a dangerous assignment when all it really wants is to be left alone to watch futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe [Source: Variety]
Power Book IV: Force
STARZ has announced that “Power Book IV: Force” will be back for a third season, confirming that Tommy Egan’s issues in the Windy City are not over. The news comes a month after the second season finale with at least two character fates set to be revealed. [Source: Starz]
Nine Perfect Strangers
Christine Baranski (“The Good Fight”) and Annie Murphy (“Schitt’s Creek”) have joined the cast of the Hulu spa dramedy “Nine Perfect Strangers” for its second season which shifts to the Swiss Alps.
They join a cast that includes returnee Nicole Kidman along with Murray Bartlett, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Dolly De Leon, Lucas Englander, Aras Aydin and musician King Princess. [Source: TV Line]
Fire Country
CBS/CBS Studios is reportedly the process of casting a female sheriff character to lead “Sheriff’s Country,” a spin-off of the current hit “Fire Country”. The character will first appear in a Season 2 episode of “Fire Country” which premieres February 16th. CBS first teased “Fire Country” offshoots back in June. [Source: TV Line]
