“We’re not giving up.” National Geographic has unveiled an official trailer for a documentary series titled Chilean Mine Rescue: Out of Time, out for streaming this month. It’s the next installment in NatGeo’s Emmy-winning “Race Against Time” series. Everyone remembers this story that stopped the world in 2010! When 33 miners became trapped more than half mile underground in northern Chile, the entire world held its breath. Over 69 days, rescuers raced to try to save them while the men underground fought to survive. The series follows the miners from the moment of the collapse through the improvised order that took hold in the days underground to the engineering gamble that made the rescue possible and the fame and lasting toll that followed. Featuring unseen archive footage and powerful interviews with survivors & rescuers, this documentary series tells the definitive story of one of history’s most compelling disasters. I’m still amazed they were able to get all 33 of them out safely. Back in 2015 they made a big movie out of this incident called The 33.
