Netflix has ordered “Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery,” a spin-off of the mystery series “Manifest” which premiered in 2018 on NBC.
That series, about a passenger plane caught in turbulence that seems to have transported them more than five years into the future, ran for three seasons on the network before being cancelled in 2021.
Netflix picked it up for a two-part fourth season that aired in 2022 and 2023. The new series will be set in the same world as the original series but follow a new group of characters.
In “Arrivals,” a mysterious plane crash-lands in Denver and the passengers emerge with no memory of who they are, where they came from, or why they’re here.
A young social worker and a novice Homeland Security agent team up with the new arrivals in an attempt to stop a humanity-ending catastrophe, discovering along the way that they are all part of the very puzzle they’re trying to solve.
Series creator Jeff Rake is teaming with the original show’s writers and co-executive producers Margaret Easley and Laura Putney for the new series.
All three will co-create and co-showrun the Warner Bros. Television series as well as executive produce with Robert Zemeckis, Jack Rapke, Len Goldstein and Jacqueline Levine.
