In an exclusive report published today, movie news outlet Knight Edge Media claims the exhaustive search for the next Bond actor has been narrowed down to just three contenders. According to their sources, Callum Turner (Eternity, Masters of the Air) and Jack O’Connell (Sinners, Lady Chatterley’s Lover) have locked in two of those finalist slots, with Jack Lowden (Slow Horses, Dunkirk) frequently cited alongside them as the search reaches its climax.

If I were in charge of casting the next James Bond and needed to pick from these three actors, my choice, with a bullet, would be Jack O’Connell. He blew me away as the villainous Remmick in Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, and I’d love to see him apply that same level of swagger to James Bond. As much as I’m looking forward to seeing him in upcoming projects like Godzilla X Kong: Supernova and A Quiet Place Part III, knowing that he’d likely sign a contract for multiple Bond movies excites me.

Denis Villeneuve is directing the next Bond movie after work on Dune: Part Three is complete. Peaky Blinders scribe Steve Knight is penning the screenplay, with Amy Pascal and David Heyman producing.

As someone who reports on this stuff every time Amazon stirs Bond’s martini, I’m overjoyed that it feels like we’re finally getting somewhere with these casting rumors. I suspect we’ll know who’s playing Bond by the end of the year, though I don’t know that for sure. If we roll into 2027 and still don’t know who’s playing the character, I might lose it. Understandably, Amazon is under tremendous pressure to make good choices. A lot rides on the future of the Bond franchise, and without the perfect lead, faith in Amazon’s ability to usher him into the next era of greatness could be compromised.
