Though he very briefly appeared in 2021’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil has still been mostly sidelined to his own corner of the MCU with “Daredevil: Born Again”.
That looks like it will remain the case with the upcoming multiverse-spanning “Avengers: Secret Wars” which is gearing up to begin shooting soon.
Appearing at a comic convention (via CBM in the UK recently, Cox spoke about how glad he was he didn’t have to answer fan and media questions about appearing in the currently in cinemas “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” any more (he doesn’t appear in the film:
“I’m so glad I don’t have to answer that question anymore. Ugh. It’s awful because I knew I wasn’t in it. The amount of times people would be like, ‘Are you in Spider-Man?’ I just knew…they’d walk away with this big grin on their face, and that their hearts were gonna break.”
Then asked whether Daredevil could appear in “Avengers: Secret Wars,” he gave a pretty definitive: “No, I’m not going to be in it, no. Sorry. And you can believe me now.”
The talk comes as Jeff Sneider revealed on an episode of The Hot Mic that something with Marvel is going to film in February and that the “code name was like the Ahmmed Stone or the Amit Stone, or something”.
It’s indicated this is for TV, not film, and could well be the next Marvel ‘Special Presentation’. Sneider has also heard rumblings of an MCU-set True Detective-style procedural series.
This has quickly led to speculation about a potential “Heroes for Hire” as either a one-off or series, with the trio of ‘Defenders’ – Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Iron Fist (Finn Jones) and Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) – leading. None of this has been confirmed.
