Height has always played an interesting role in American politics, even if it has little to do with how someone governs. Several studies have suggested that taller candidates often have an advantage in elections, and throughout U.S. history, many presidents have stood well above the average height of their era. While their accomplishments are what ultimately define their legacies, it’s still fun to see how they literally measured up against one another. From towering Civil War leaders to modern commanders in chief, these presidents all shared one very noticeable trait.
