“Our Flag Means Death” creator David Jenkins says that the planned “Booster Gold” TV series at HBO and DC Studios is dead.
Just over a year ago, Jenkins boarded the long-gestating series as showrunner and writer.
In a posting on Threads (via Variety) today, he responded to the GQ interview with Mahershala Ali in which the actor discussed walking away from “Blade” after being stalled for years.
Drawing parallels to his own stint on “Booster Gold,” which was announced back in 2023, Jenkins wrote:
“My ‘Booster Gold’ won’t be moving forward. Can’t improve on Mahershala’s lovely statement so I’ll just apply it here as well.”
In the comics, Booster Gold is a glory-seeking showboat from the future, staging high-publicity heroics through his knowledge of historical events and use of futuristic technology.
Glen Powell, Anthony Starr and Kumail Nanjiani have all been rumoured as starring in some incarnation or another of the property over the years, rumours that never panned out with none of the three said to be in the running.
