Marvel Studios’ “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is out in cinemas now. Though it spent years in development, the film had a rather quick production.
They went from the start of shooting in Glasgow in August 2025, through full shooting and post-production to being out in cinemas in less than a year.
As star Tom Holland has previously indicated, one of the big things they did this time was get the script into shape before filming began. That said, it wasn’t a case of what was on the page ending up exactly on the screen.
Speaking with Quotable, Holland revealed that the film underwent some serious edits in post-production to the point that incorporating feedback from a test audience ended up making the film worse:
“We’ve seen loads of different cuts of this movie. One of the cuts – they took all of the notes from all of the random people that saw the film and they changed the movie.
Then we watched it and we hated it. It like totally didn’t work, and it was what the people were asking for, but it wasn’t quite what we wanted as the creatives. But they learnt lessons from that experience… a movie can change a thousand different ways in the edit room.”
The team appears to have done a good job of correcting the issues, with critic’s reviews putting the film at 91% (7.8/10) on Rotten Tomatoes.
