By In terms of upcoming “Star Wars” television, we have the already shot “Skeleton Crew” and “The Acolyte” on the way next year, whilst the second and final season of “Andor” is resuming production shortly ahead of a likely early 2025 debut.
So what about “The Mandalorian”? At the last report, a fourth season was in the works, and there was talk that production was ramping up with an early-mid 2024 shoot planned ahead of a 2025 airing. However, a new report from The Hot Mic suggests something else.
Scooper Jeff Sneider offered a surprising update on the show, saying that the show’s fourth season is apparently being reworked into the franchise’s next theatrical feature.
He suggests this would likely beat out the Daisy Ridley-led “New Jedi Order” film into cinemas. That project was originally eyeing an April 2024 production start but Star Wars News Net says it’s now looking likely it won’t begin shooting until August/September.
That outlet heard the latest draft of the script isn’t ready yet, and due to strike-related delays, they can’t begin shooting before the Summer. At present, that film is still set for a May 22nd 2026 launch.
The new Hot Mic report has raised several questions – could a “The Mandalorian” movie be the first “Star Wars” film to hit cinemas since 2019? More importantly, what does this mean for Dave Filoni’s Mandoverse-wrapping film? We’ll have to wait and see how it pans out.
For now, fans of the series can now buy the first two seasons of the show on 4K UHD disc with Disney set to release the titles on the format this coming Tuesday.
