Sandra Oh is in talks to join the untitled Matt Damon-led project at Universal Pictures from filmmakers Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert. Details on the project remain under wraps. Kwan, Scheinert and Jonathan Wang will produce. [Source: Deadline]
The Parlay
Following their previous teaming on “Judas and the Black Messiah,” actor Daniel Kaluuya and filmmaker Shaka King will reunite for “The Parlay,” a new action-crime film at Amazon MGM Studios and HyperObject Industries.
“One Battle After Another” scene stealer Teyana Taylor is also circling the project which has an original spec script by Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie, which King is helping revise. Story specifics are under wraps, and no production start date has yet been set. [Source: Deadline]
The East Palace
Netflix has released the teaser trailer for the supernatural thriller “The East Palace” starring Nam Joo-hyuk as Gu-cheon, a spirit hunter summoned to a cursed royal court after a crown prince found dead in a pond.
Rumours spread that a pond spirit has returned to erase the King’s bloodline and Gu-cheon trying to find the dark truth buried beneath the water. Choi Jung-kyu directs the film which hits the streamer on July 17th.
The End of Oak Street
Warner Bros. Pictures has revealed a new TV spot for David Robert Mitchell’s “The End of Oak Street” starring Ewan McGregor and Anne Hathaway. The story begins when a mysterious cosmic event rips Oak Street from suburbia and transports its neighbourhood to someplace unknown.
The Platt family soon discovers that their very survival depends on them sticking together as they navigate their now unrecognisable surroundings. The film will be released worldwide on August 12th and in the U.S. on August 14th.
The Westies
MGM+ has premiered the official trailer for “The Westies” series starring J.K. Simmons and hailing from the creators of “Narcos”. Titus Welliver, Tom Brittney, Sarah Bolger and Jessica Frances Dukes co-star.
The story is set in the early 1980s when the construction of the Jacob Javits Convention Center, on the home turf of the eponymous violent Irish gang in New York’s Hell’s Kitchen, promises a financial windfall.
