A new report claims that Sebastian Stan’s role in Matt Reeves’ “The Batman Part II,” which has long been reported as district attorney Harvey Dent/Two-Face, is actually a whole different villain – Mr. Zsasz.
The Insneider just published the rather unexpected report, with the outlet claiming that Stan’s role in the film is Victor Zsasz – the sadomasochistic and psychopathic serial killer who carves a tally mark onto himself for each of his victims.
In addition, he claims Brian Tyree Henry is the one who’ll actually be playing Harvey Dent in the film. Henry’s role before now has never been disclosed.
While Reeves himself confirmed the various actors starring in the film, both he and the studio have stopped short of confirming official character names for the new additions to the cast.
Until now, it was widely expected that Stan would play Harvey Dent, Scarlett Johansson would play his wife Gilda, and Charles Dance would play his father Christopher Dent. If the new report is true, then all of this is in doubt.
We do know Stan has previously teased that he will play “many roles in this one” and confirmed he’d already been working with the hair and makeup teams who have “devised how his disfigurement will look”. That description could apply to Two-Face or Zsasz, albeit in different ways.
Filming on the project is slated to begin this month at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, along with location shooting in London and Liverpool. Some rehearsals and test filming have already been seen, while Colin Farrell recently confirmed he’ll only appear twice in the whole film.
Zsasz has been portrayed several times on screen across film, TV and games, the most notable interpretation being Anthony Carrigan’s version in FOX’s “Gotham”.
Robert Pattinson, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, Sebastian Koch, Jayme Lawson, and Gil Perez-Abraham co-star in “The Batman: Part II” opening October 1st 2027.
