The Jump Street movies remain way better, and way funnier than they had any right to be. Based on the FOX TV series from the late 1980s that centered on police officers going undercover as high school students in an attempt to infiltrate a drug ring, the ridiculous premise was simply ripe for mockery. And mock they did. Over two movies. Now, Sony Pictures is officially moving forward with 24 Jump Street, a follow-up to 2012’s 21 Jump Street and 2014’s 22 Jump Street.
Fans of Jeff rejoice!
No doubt the lack of 23 will be a joke within this somehow. Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and Ice Cube are all reportedly in talks to return as Morton Schmidt, Greg Jenko and Captain Dickson respectively, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Rodney Rothman will direct 24 Jump Street from a script he wrote with Hill and Meghan Malloy. Rothman also worked with Michael Bacall and Oren Uziel on 22. Previous directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller return as producers alongside Neal H. Moritz, Hill, Tatum, Matt Dines, and Matt Dines.
