A teaser trailer has been released for Oscar-nominated Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda’s new coming-of-age drama “Look Back,” which is being distributed by GKids.
The project marks the first live-action adaptation of the best-selling manga of the same name by “Chainsaw Man” creator Tatsuki Fujimoto
The story follows two schoolgirls, one a shut-in with severe social anxiety, who are brought together by their dream of becoming manga artists.
The Eisner Awards-nominated one-shot web manga, first published on Shonen Jump+ in 2021, was an instant hit with more than 4 million views in just two days.
The film will follow on from a 2024 animated version from filmmaker Kiyotaka Oshiyama, which GKids also released and took home a high honor at the Annie Awards.
Kore-eda is coming off the future-set drama “Sheep in a Box” about a couple who take in a state-of-the-art humanoid as their son.
