
Veteran 81-year-old character actor James Handy, whose career spanned over 40 years of film and TV roles, has died. The actor was found murdered by his girlfriend’s son, according to The New York Post.
Hardy died on Wednesday at a home in the suburb of Tarzana in Los Angeles. Handy was found by cops unconscious in the front yard of a home, suffering from multiple stab wounds to the chest.
Authorities raced to the house after a 911 caller reportedly told dispatchers “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.”
In a police statement to ABC11, the suspect flagged down nearby responding officers, telling them he was the one they were looking for. The suspect resides at the location with his mother, who is the victim’s girlfriend.
Handy has more than 100 acting credits for roles in TV series and movies starting with “Taps” in 1981 and “The Verdict” in 1982 and finishing with 2022’s “Top Gun: Maverick” as a bartender.
Often playing cops or authority figures like doctors, fire marshals, priests, or judges, he had notable roles in “K-9,” “Arachnophobia,” “Jumanji,” “The Rocketeer,” “Guarding Tess,” “Point of No Return,” “Bird,” “Unbreakable,” “15 Minutes,” “Logan,” and “Suburbicon”.
On TV, his roles included notable turns in “Alias,” “Profiler,” “NYPD Blue,” “Melrose Place,” “The X-Files,” “Murder She Wrote,” “Quantum Leap,” “Criminal Minds,” “Castle,” “Law & Order,” “Rizzoli & Isles” and “NCIS: LA”.
