The legendary masked swordsman is back, but not quite as audiences remember him. A fresh French-language adaptation of Zorro is set to premiere on June 30, bringing a stylish mix of action, comedy, romance, and political intrigue to television screens.
Leading the eight-episode series is Academy Award winner Jean Dujardin, best known for The Artist. Dujardin takes on the role of Don Diego de la Vega, who unexpectedly becomes mayor of Los Angeles in 1821 following his father’s death. What should be an opportunity to improve the city quickly turns into a nightmare as Diego discovers corruption, financial ruin, and exploitation at every level of society.
Unable to fight injustice through politics alone, Diego revives his long-abandoned alter ego and once again becomes Zorro. As the masked hero grows into a folk legend, Diego finds himself trapped between two identities — respected mayor by day and vigilante defender by night.
The series also stars Audrey Dana as Gabriella, whose growing fascination with the mysterious Zorro creates both romantic tension and comedic complications.
Inspired by classic swashbucklers and French vaudeville, the series blends adventure with humor while exploring themes of power, greed, and social change. After attracting attention in Europe, this modern take on Zorro finally arrives in North America on June 30.
