Dito Montiel (“Riff Raff,” “A Guide to Recognising Your Saints”) is set to direct a biopic based on the life of legendary actor, writer, and director Gene Wilder.
Montiel has scripted the project with Jeremy Roth (“Love, Victor”) and has secured life rights from Wilder’s Estate.
Wilder was a two-time Oscar and Golden Globe nominee, best known for his unforgettable performances in the original “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” and iconic comedies like “Young Frankenstein,” “Blazing Saddles” and “The Producers”.
The actor remains one of the most influential performers in film history with this biopic exploring the man’s rise from shy young theater actor to one of cinema’s most singular comedic voices.
It’ll also deal with his personal struggles, relationships, and challenges that shaped both his life and work.
Aimee Schoof, Isen Robbins, Josh Kesselman and Megan Freels Johnston will produce for Intrinsic Value Films and Mgmt Entertainment.
