The BBC has released the trailer for “The Giggle,” the third and final of the David Tennant-led “Doctor Who” 60th anniversary specials which serves as Tennant’s final outing in the role.
Indeed the trailer teases both Tennant’s regeneration and incoming Doctor actor Ncuti Gatwa as well as Neil Patrick Harris’ villain The Toymaker and the chaos that comes the latter’s arrival.
The network has also released the behind-the-scenes clip for “Wild Blue Yonder,” the second of the specials which was released a few hours ago on the Disney+ service.
That episode serves as something quite different to the first special – offering a sci-fi horror character piece that teases some genuinely dark concepts and fulfils showrunner Russell T. Davies’ commitment to not ignoring continuity with references to events in Jodie Whittaker’s run with the character.
Davies adds that the aim is a story designed to push the characters as far as they can go. The featurette also tackles the return of another familiar cast member, and the impressive set design and visual effects involving the giant corridor.
The “Wild Blue Yonder” episode is now up on BBC iPlayer and Disney+ whilst “The Giggle” episode will screen next Saturday December 9th.
