Brendan Fraser is now 57 years old. He was just 29 when he made The Mummy, the movie that catapulted him to leading man status before Hollywood cruelly ripped it away, a situation he then reversed with an Oscar win for The Whale. He then followed it up with Killers of the Flower Moon, Rental Family, and Pressure.

The “Fraseresurgance” is almost complete, and now he is finally getting the chance to return to the franchise that made him famous.

The fourth film in The Mummy franchise will be released on October 15th 2027, so shooting will be imminent. The question has always been, what kind of shape will he be able to get into now that the years have passed?

He gave some details of his prep work on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show:

We’re gonna get the band back together. The only way to do it. So, we are going to give the audience what they have been bothering all of us for, for the last twenty-whatever years.

I was hopeful for a long while, and then I was like, ‘I don’t know if they are.’ Then other ‘Mummy’ movies got made. But listen, what we’re gonna do is saddle back up, go back to the locations — I should probably stop talking like this, because I don’t want to give everything away.

Please wish me luck. I’m doing my best to get this 57-year-old gear in shape.”

Rachel Weisz and John Hannah will also return, with rumored appearances from Oded Fehr and Kevin J. O’Connor. No word yet on Arnold Vosloo as Imhotep. We presume this is what Fraser means by “getting the band back together”?
