The official teaser trailer has been released for “Rogue Trooper,” a new animated sci-fi feature from “Moon” and “Warcraft” filmmaker Duncan Jones and based on the title of the same name by famed British comic book publisher 2000 AD.
Fully animated in Unreal Engine 5, Aneurin Barnard (“Dunkirk,” “The Goldfinch”) leads the cast as 19 – a ‘Genetic Infantryman’ who finds himself the sole survivor of an invasion force.
Desperate to track down the traitor who sold him and his comrades out, the super soldier is accompanied by three killed-in-action squad mates, whose personalities have been stored in his gun, helmet and backpack.
The ensemble cast includes Hayley Atwell (“Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning”), Jack Lowden (“Slow Horses”), Daryl McCormack (“Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery”), Reece Shearsmith (“Saltburn”), Diane Morgan (“Cunk on Earth”), Alice Lowe (“Black Mirror”), Asa Butterfield (“Sex Education”) and Sean Bean (“The Lord of the Rings” trilogy).
Jones adapted the script based on the comic co-created by artist Dave Gibbons (“Watchmen”) and Gerry Finley-Day. Stuart Fenegan, Jason Kingsley and Chris Kingsley produce alongside Jones.
Photos from the film, produced by Rebellion and Liberty Films, are up at Deadline. No word on a potential release date as yet.
