Poor man’s Call Of Duty… or the Call Of Duty alternative for the more discerning FPS player, now there is a debate that could potentially run and run about Battlefield. That debate could spill over into the cinema, too. Not only is Paramount Pictures making a Call Of Duty movie, but some talent is lining up behind a Battlefield movie, too.

Who is that talent? The Hollywood Reporter says it is Christopher McQuarrie and Michael B. Jordan. McQuarrie is attached to write, direct, and produce, while Jordan would produce and potentially star. Meetings started on Friday with potential suitors at studios and production houses. They are seeking a theatrical release.

The game comes from Electronic Arts and features full-spectrum warfare across various time periods from World War 1 to a future conflict. Just like Call Of Duty. It was developed by Battlefield Studios, primarily led by Swedish company DICE. There have been six major instalments and countless add-ons and DLC packs.

In October 2012, Fox announced their intentions to make a one-hour-long television show based on Battlefield: Bad Company. The show was to be written by executive producer John Eisendrath and co-produced by Patrick Bach and Patrick O’Brien of Electronic Arts, and Doug Robinson of Happy Madison. Nothing moved after the announcement.

In July 2016, Paramount Television announced that it would adapt the game series for television. Anonymous Content’s Michael Sugar and Ashley Zalta will executive produce. Again, nothing happened.

EA would be on board as producers again this time. Just in time to get cinemagoers pumped up into a warfare frenzy ahead of the draft papers’ arrival.
