By The Last of Us
Game co-creator Neil Druckmann has confirmed HBO’s upcoming second season of their TV adaptation of the franchise will use “at least one element from a cut level” from “The Last of Us Part 2” game within the story.
The cut level he’s referring to is one of three being included in the upcoming “The Last of Us Part II Remastered” title releasing in January, though which level isn’t clear. Filming on the second season begins early next year in Vancouver. [Source: EW]
The Long Walk
Following news of director Francis Lawrence’s attachment this week, Lionsgate has picked up distribution rights to the Stephen King adaptation “The Long Walk” based on the 1979 novel penned under the pseudonym Richard Bachman.
JT Mollner will pen the script in which 100 teen boys embark on the punishing titular journey that involves strict stipulations (walking at least four miles an hour) and ending with only one survivor. [Source: THR]
Bob Hearts Abishola
CBS has announced that the Chuck Lorre-produced comedy “Bob Hearts Abishola” will end with its upcoming fifth season which returns early next year and will run through until May 13th.
Billy Gardell and Folake Olowofoyeku star in the series which marks the second Lorre-produced series to end next year, the other being “Young Sheldon”. It also means Lorre will have zero series on broadcast next season. [Source: TV Line]
Knox Goes Away
Saban Films has scored the U.S. rights to Michael Keaton’s neo-noir thriller “Knox Goes Away” which stars himself, Al Pacino, James Marsden and Marcia Gay Harden. A Q1 2024 theatrical release is planned.
Keaton plays John Knox, a contract killer with rapid onset dementia who is offered the chance to redeem himself by saving the life of the adult son (Marsden) with whom he had been estranged. [Source: THR]
Godfather of Harlem
MGM+ has ordered a ten-episode fourth season of its Forest Whitaker-led crime drama “Godfather of Harlem”. Co-created by Chris Brancato and Paul Eckstein, the new season will begin production next year in New York.
The new season will pick up with Bumpy Johnson (Whitaker) as he continues his bloody war for control of Harlem against New York’s Mafia families, all while contending with the emergence of a potential rival in newly arrived Black gangster Frank Lucas. [Source: Variety]
