By Following a brief teaser tied to the release date announcement the other week, Peacock has premiered a new trailer for the upcoming “Ted” TV series which serves as a prequel to the two R-rated Mark Wahlberg-led comedy films from Universal Pictures.
It’s 1993, and Ted the bear’s (Seth MacFarlane) moment of fame has passed. He’s now living back home in Framingham, Massachusetts, with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett (Max Burkholder), along with John’s parents, Matty and Susan (Scott Grimes and Alanna Ubach), and cousin Blaire (Giorgia Whigham).
Ted may be a lousy influence on John, but at the end of the day, he’s a loyal pal who’s always willing to go out on a limb for friendship.
McFarlane serves as an executive producer on the series along with directing and writing. Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh also serve as writers as well as showrunners.
McFarlane said in an earlier statement that he and the showrunners grew up in Boston in the 1990s which is where the series takes place, so many personal stories are worked into the show.
The series also stars Alanna Ubach (“Euphoria”), Scott Grimes (“The Orville”) and Giorgia Whigham (“13 Reasons Why”). All seven episodes of the new “Ted” series will release on the service on January 11th.
