Personally, I like the Ocean movies; I’m a sucker for a good heist. The first movie was fun, the second was OK, and I think the third one had good qualities. Then there was Ocean’s 7, the story for the ‘modern audience’ and the less said about that, the better.
We reported last year that Danny Ocean is looking to return in a sequel. Well, that’s the last we heard about that, but now it seems that a prequel is in the works.
Bradley Cooper will write, direct and star in the movie. His name has had rumours doing the rounds, but it’s not confirmed by Warner Bros. chief Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy at CinemaCon this week.
The Ocean prequel is slated for June 2027 and will mark Cooper’s fourth directorial effort. Is there anything that man cannot do? An interview with the Last Movie Outpost for one.
Cooper will be starring alongside Margot Robbie for the prequel. Both Cooper and Robbie will produce the movie.
The only news we have is that the movie will focus on Danny Ocean’s parents and be set at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix. Robbie is the one who gave this news and said:
“Before Danny Ocean ever stepped foot in Vegas, two masterminds taught him everything he knows: his parents. You’ll see them in all their prime in our new movie, pulling off an epic heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix.”
George Clooney, who played Danny Ocean in the original remakes (the original movie was made in 1960 and starred Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sam Davis Jr.). Clooney said he would watch the prequel as a fan, but not have any creative involvement.
