We know, there have been hundreds of stories about who’s going to be the next James Bond. It didn’t seem like Daniel Craig made it to the end of the last one, but the 007 number is more like a security badge, and anyone can pick it up.

As we know, Amazon now owns Bond, and they plan on keeping 007 going for as long as they can. Names like Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Callum Turner, Idris Elba, David Beckham, and Tom Hardy. The rumours have been running rife.

Even with a new director attached, Dennis Villeneuve, alongside Stephen Knight as writer, they were still searching for a main star. One popular outlet had inside information about who had suddenly found their way onto the list.

Amazon insiders were busy crunching algorithms and engagement data, and it showed them a gap in the market they were keen to exploit. As a result, Phoebe Waller-Bridge was thrust into the reckoning as both the star and as a co-writer, and possibly to design the poster, too. The era of Jane Bond could be upon us.

Buffing Up

There is an image online of PWB in training and buffing up for the role.

Villeneuve said he wasn’t interested in a woman playing Bond, but agreed to do a casting for PWB to appease Amazon. In the audition, she jumped over the table, flying roundhouse kicked him in the face, landed, and said ‘Roadhouse!’  When Villeneuve came to, he knew she was the right person for the job.

The reports say she’s been in training for 12 months, starting in April last year. Since then, she can now bench press her own body weight while holding 40 bags of sugar and a small cat.

The good news about all this means that production can start imminently on the new movie in the hope it will be out this time next year, at the beginning of April 2027.
