The Americans, FX’s thriller series starring Matthew Rhys and Kerri Russell, has won rave reviews. Now it is being remade as The Koreans.

The original followed two Soviet KGB intelligence officers posing as an American married couple in the 1980s.

According to Deadline, the remake will star Lee Byunghun Hun (Squid Game) and Han Jimin (Heavenly Ever After) will play the leads, obviously as Koreans.

As I am sure you will have figured out by now, the Disney+ series will be set in South Korea during the early 1980s.

A loving couple, seemingly ordinary middle-class people, hide a deep secret from their friends, neighbors and even their own children. They are elite North Korean infiltration agents dedicating their lives to bringing down South Korea from within.

Their skills will be tested, while their presumptions are challenged, placing their loyalty, patriotism, and even their sense of identity into turmoil as a relentless South Korean counterintelligence machine begins to zero in.

Filming has already begun on the series. As usual, it will be on Disney+ worldwide and Hulu in the US.

An air date for The Koreans is yet to be confirmed. The Americans is still available on FX and Disney+.
