By Nicolas Cage is known for many things, one of them being an incredibly prolific filmography. From his first films in the early 1980s through to the mid-late 2000s he regularly churned out 2-3 films a year.
That was him just getting warmed up though. As the studio offers cooled and the indie film offers came, he only worked more – seeing that number increase dramatically to the point he was doing 3-6 films a year from that point rising to seven films annually in 2018 and 2019.
The pandemic slowed him down to 2-3 films a year, but he came back with a vengeance this year with no less than six films including the just released “Dream Scenario”.
Out promoting that film, the actor tells Entertainment Tonight he’s looking to ease back on the number of screen appearances he does in the future as he approaches his 60th birthday in January.
He tells the outlet he’s been thinking about what’s “really important” to him in his life, which includes spending more time with his young daughter who was born just over a year ago, Cage says:
“So, 60’s coming up. I’d like to read a book a week. I want to spend more time with my daughter. I’m taking stock of what’s really important. Maybe not make quite as many movies. [Having a baby girl is] profound. Totally new experience. I love it.”
There’s no shortage of Cage in the near future with Oz Perkins’ thriller “Longlegs” and Ben Brewer’s action horror tale “Arcadian” and Lorcan Finnegan’s psychological thriller “The Surfer” all on the way.
