A few days can make quite a difference at the negotiating table.
The InSneider reports that in the wake of “Sinners” star Michael B. Jordan winning the Oscar, his involvement in “F1” director Joseph Kosinski’s upcoming “Miami Vice” reboot may not be a sure thing.
The report indicates that Jordan’s new agency reps have told him to wait until after the Oscars to finish negotiating his deal. Now that he’s won the Oscar, he’s apparently seeking a higher salary.
Specifically the site is alleging a demand of $18 million, double that of his co-star Austin Butler. Combined with rumors of Kosinski wanting Tom Cruise playing the villain, that’s potentially a big chunk of the budget already set aside just for three cast members.
Dan Gilroy and Eric Warren Singer penned the script for the film that will explore the glamour and corruption of mid-1980s Miami as it follows the two detectives who worked undercover.
The project is said to be inspired by the pilot episode and first season of the landmark television series, which Michael Mann produced and was hugely influential on the TV and cultural landscape. Universal has scheduled the film for theatrical release on August 6th 2027.
