Following all the issues with Xbox, gaming fanboys have been pushing the PC vs console feud lately saying that consoles are on the ‘way out’ and everyone is ‘defecting’ to PC.

That doesn’t appear to be the case going by new sales numbers in for Capcom smash hit “Resident Evil Requiem”. Both The Game Business’ Chris Dring and Circana analyst Mat Piscatella have confirmed that in the U.S. in February, the PS5 was the ‘lead platform’ for the best-selling survival horror title.

In fact, it reportedly held that lead by a ‘meaningful margin’ over the PC. Even with that dominance, dollar sales for the game on PS5 were below 50% of its total in that market – the rest spread across PC, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2.

Part of the reason the sentiment has been swirling from PC owners came from Capcom’s own recent quarterly report which said the ‘majority’ of the company’s sales were on PC these days.

That number however likely referred to overall software for the company, including legacy titles, combined with the worldwide market (China and parts of Asia have big PC user bases and minimal console use).

In addition, ‘Requiem’ had a record-breaking Steam player peak which led to speculation that PC dominated. So far, the game has done 6 million in sales worldwide, making it the fastest selling entry in the series so far.
