Bradley Cooper is reportedly stepping in to direct the upcoming “Ocean’s 11” prequel film in the works at Warner Bros. Pictures and Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment according to Puck News.

Oscar-nominated filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung (“Minari,” “Twister”) was previously attached to direct the film and developed the project with the film’s star, Margot Robbie, who is also producing.

Chung exited the project the other week in what’s dubbed an “amicable split due to creative differences”. Cooper has been in talks for a major role in the film, so directing it would slide right in there on top of that.

It would also give Cooper a needed crowd-pleaser after his last two films, “Maestro” and “Is This Thing On?,” failed to draw audiences or prove awards bait as hoped. Filming is kicking off in Monaco this Summer.

The project boasts a screenplay by Carrie Solomon, based on characters created by George Clayton Johnson & Jack Golden Russell, and is rumoured to be a prequel set around the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix.

It is separate from the “Ocean’s 14” project, which George Clooney indicated back in December had its budget approved and aimed to shoot this summer, with 1979’s “Going in Style” serving as the project’s creative inspiration.
