Universal Pictures and Illumination have premiered the first official trailer for “Minions & Monsters,” the third film in the “Minions” spin-off series and the seventh overall in the “Despicable Me” franchise.

This is the rambunctious, ridiculous and totally true story of how the Minions conquered Hollywood, became movie stars, lost everything, unleashed monsters onto the world and then banded together to try and save the planet from the mayhem they had just created.

The new film is directed by Oscar nominee Pierre Coffin who directed the first three “Despicable Me” films and the first “Minions” film along with providing the voices of the characters.

Brian Lynch (“Minions,” “The Secret Life of Pets”) co-wrote the script with Coffin while Chris Meledandri and by Bill Ryan produce the film which was originally slated for a June 2027 release but got moved up a full year.

The overall franchise has taken in global box office of more than $5.6 billion and the previous film, “Minions: The Rise of Gru,” grossed over $940 million worldwide along with starting the memorable Gentleminions TikTok trend.

“Minions & Monsters” will open in cinemas on July 1st.
