Speaking at a recent event, actress/producer Nicole Kidman spoke about her love of HBO’s “Big Little Lies” series when she dropped the surprising suggestion that a third season of the popular and well-received David E. Kelley series is in the works.
She says: “I loved ‘Big Little Lies’ because it sort of came along at a time in my life when I had my children and I was thinking I was going to retire. Then this situation came along, where Reese Witherspoon and I were able to produce that show and create that show. And then all of you watched it and made it a massive success… and we will be bringing you a third one, just FYI.” [Source: E! Online]
Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light
Mark Rylance, Damian Lewis and Jonathan Pryce will reprise their roles of Thomas Cromwell, King Henry VII and Cardinal Wolsey respectively in PBS and the BBC’s “Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light” based on the final novel in Hilary Mantel’s trilogy. Peter Kominsky directs.
Kate Phillips will also reprise her role as Henry VIII’s third wife, Jane Seymour, and Lilit Lesser is Princess Mary. The story follows the final four years of Cromwell’s life, completing his journey from a self-made man to the most feared, influential figure of his time. [Source: Variety]
UnPrisoned
Hulu’s Onyx Collective dramedy “UnPrisoned,” starring Kerry Washington and Delroy Lindo, has been renewed for a second season. Yvette Lee Bowser returns as showrunner.
The series centers around the complicated relationship between family and marriage therapist Paige (Washington) and her father Edwin (Lindo) following his release from prison. The series premiered on March 10th on Hulu. [Source: TV Line]
The Narrow Road to the Deep North
Ciaran Hinds and Odessa Young will join Jacob Elordi in filmmaker Justin Kurzel’s new miniseries “The Narrow Road to the Deep North” which is currently shooting for Sony Pictures Television.
An adaptation of the Booker Prize-winning novel by Richard Flanaghan, the five-part series deals with the forced labor on the Thai-Burma Railway as its dramatic heart. The story is told by an Australian doctor who was taken prisoner during World War II and became an unlikely and uncomfortable hero after the war’s end. [Source: Variety]
The Woman in the Wall
Paramount+ and Showtime have set a January 19th premiere date for the six-episode mystery thriller “The Woman in the Wall” starring Ruth Wilson as Lorna Brady, a woman who suffered a traumatic past at one of Ireland’s infamous Magdalene Laundries. Joe Murtagh penned the script. [Source: Showtime]
