We all love movies. Well, love is a strong word these days. However, we all must watch movies on something, and long gone are the days of the old CRT TVs. Nowadays, TVs are smart, will decide what you can watch and can block all Disney content.

I have had a Panasonic TV for a few years now, and I hate it. I used to think that Panasonic made good TVs, but now, they don’t make them anymore. Well, if they do, I haven’t seen them while shopping.

The TV is not online, as the online features are horrible and the apps don’t work. The thing I hate the most is that the remote has the Netflix button just above the ‘up’ button. The times I accidentally press it are more infuriating than accidentally watching YouTube without an ad blocker*.

A New TV

The good thing is, the other day, the TV played up. I went to turn it on, and it kept trying to launch Netflix and would then turn itself off. What was even better, the wife was sitting next to me! This meant she could see that we need a new TV, and it’s not just me lying about it.

So, now I must find a new TV. It won’t be a Panasonic, but I am looking at Hisense or Phillips. I’ve had a few Phillips in the past, and I’ve liked them; however, I also like the Hisense.

My TV now is 50 inch, which is a perfectly good size for my front room. I don’t want to go huge for the sake of it, but I might go for a 55-inch. I would like something with a better antiglare and 4k, obviously.

I do all my streaming through an Nvidia Shield Pro, and I love it. I mean, I use it because I can’t use any of the apps on the current Panasonic. I did look at a new Samsung, but I heard the new remotes make it tricky to switch between HDMI and normal TV.

So, what TVs do you recommend? I’m doing my research on them…it took me two months to decide what new keyboard I wanted.

Since I spend more time with my TV than I do with my wife, I need to make the correct choice. I’m also on a budget, it would be nice to spend thousands, but I’m still paying my ‘editor’s subscription fee’ to the guys at the Last Movie Outpost.

So, I’m open to ideas. Share your thoughts on the TV you have.
