More sad news, Catherine O’Hara has passed away at the age of 71. She had a brief illness and passed away at her home in Los Angeles.

O’Hara’s career spans over five decades, beginning with the Canadian sketch series Second City Television. Her appearance on the show earned her an Emmy. She regularly worked with John Candy, Harold Ramis, Andrea Martin, Joe Flaherty, Eugene Levy, Rick Moranis, Dave Thomas, and Martin Short.

O’Hara was a regular with Christopher Guest in mockumentaries like Best in Show, For Your Consideration, Waiting for Guffman, and A Mighty Wind. She also had a well-known voice, starring in movies like A Nightmare Before Christmas and Chicken Little.

She is probably best known for movies like Home Alone and Beetlejuice. Even to this day, Macaulay Culkin still calls her ‘mom’. And you can’t think of her without thinking of this from Beetlejuice.

In her 60’s, she had a career resurgence starring in series like Schitt’s Creek, where she played the charmingly eccentric Moira Rose, wife to Levy’s Johnny Rose. Another role that earned her a number of nominations and awards.

She is survived by her husband Bo Welch, and sons, a number of other family. What movies or shows do you remember O’Hara from?
