Oscar winner Justine Triet (“Anatomy of a Fall”) will make her full English-language debut with the film “Fonda” which has announced a cast that includes Andrew Scott, Mia Goth, Frank Dillane, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett and Allison Janney in talks for a key role.
The film is dubbed a “psychological thriller set in a seemingly idyllic huis clos, Fonda takes us on a vertiginous dive into the shifting limits of a sound mind, as grief and obsession take hold”. Triet penned the script and shooting aims to begin in the Spring. [Source: Deadline]
Untitled Merchant-Diaz Rom-Com
Actress Cameron Diaz and British funnyman Stephen Merchant are teaming for a rom-com Merchant will direct from a script he and John Butler co-wrote. The untitled film is set up at Amazon MGM Studios with Merchant, Lee Eisenberg, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver and Josh Fagen producing.
The story follows a workaholic Brit (Merchant) employed at an upscale New York hotel who needs a wife for appearances. He strikes a deal with a struggling stand-up comic (Diaz) desperate for health insurance. The fake marriage ends in an unexpected romance. [Source Deadline]
Pressure
Focus Features, Working Title, and Studiocanal have announced a May 29th 2026 release date for the WW2 film “Pressure” based on David Haig’s acclaimed 2014 stage play. Brendan Fraser plays General Eisenhower and Andrew Scott is Captain James Stagg.
Set in the tense 72 hours before D-Day, the fate of the free world hanging in the balance. The two men face an impossible choice – launch the largest and most dangerous invasion in history or risk losing the war altogether. Mistborn
Apple TV has closed a deal for the screen rights to fantasy author Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere books. Theresa Kang’s Blue Marble label will produce. Sanderson has sold over 50 million copies of his books worldwide, collectively across his series.
The first titles being eyed for adaptation are the “Mistborn” series as features, and “The Stormlight Archive” series as television. Sanderson has been given a huge amount of creative control here as he will be the architect of the universe. He write, produce and consult and will have approvals on casting. [Source: THR]
