Actor Paul Dano has responded to Quentin Tarantino’s unexpected comments about him a while back.
Tarantino appeared on a podcast where he labelled the “Prisoners” and “Love & Mercy” actor “the weakest f—ing actor in SAG”. Tarantino received a wave of backlash for his comments, with a lot of people coming out in support of Dano and essentially none in defense of Tarantino.
Appearing at the Sundance Film Festival for the 20th anniversary of “Little Miss Sunshine,” Variety asked Dano for a reaction to the comments which is when co-star Toni Collette dived in to defend Dano.
Collette said, “Are we really going there? F–k that guy! He must’ve been high. It was just confusing. Who does that?”
Dano thanked Collette for that and said he’s “incredibly grateful that the world spoke up for me so I didn’t have to”.
“Little Miss Sunshine” directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris said Tarantino’s comments were an “embarrassment”. Faris added: “You know what was interesting was the people coming out to defend Paul. There was immediately… he is loved by so many. He is so smart.”
