Oscar winner Halle Berry is attached to play U.S. President Joanna Duncan in a film adaptation of Bill Clinton and James Patterson’s best-selling 2018 political thriller novel “The President is Missing”.

The title is part of a new film and TV slate that Berry and Holly Jeter’s HalleHolly company has assembled and unveiled a number of projects today – many of which Berry is attached to star in.

Set up at Apple Original Films and RK Films last year, “The President Is Missing” is being written by Nicole Perlman (“Guardians of the Galaxy”) and David Chasteen (“CIA”). It begins when a terrorist threatens an attack so lethal it will return the United States to the dark ages; the only person who can stop him is President Duncan (Berry).

First, she has to elude her own secret service and escape the confines of the White House in a gambit to save the world single-handedly. The role was written as a man in the novel, but the film intends to gender swap it.

Also coming is the Kay Cannon-directed action comedy “Bad Cop, Bad Cop,” the Liz Garbuis-directed “Sunburn,” the Jason Moore-directed “Family Swap,” the bidding war acquired “Parole Officer” and the adaptation of Cathy Byrd’s memoir “The Boy Who Knew Too Much”.

In the TV fron there’s the menopause-themed murder solving comedy “Zero F***s” in development at Peacock from writers Liz Kruger and Carolyn Townsend, the psychological horror drama based on Jasper DeWitt’s novella “The Patient” at HBO with writer Laeta Kalogridis, and potentially the slain son revenge drama “Mother Doom” from Matthew Sand at FX.
