We should have been watching Dune Part Two by now. Seriously. It was supposed to have been released yesterday. But praise Muad’dib, because we also now no longer have to wait until mid-March! Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have moved up Dune Part Two by two weeks and the movie will open in cinemas on March 1st.
The strikes are now over and the actors can go back on the promo trail. Between that, and the fact that adult sci-fi has very little competition at the box office these days, Warners is going for it.
Most of you know the story, but we have to write so many words to get our SEO marks, so here we go… It is the adaptation of the second half of Frank Herbert’s novel. That is the part of the novel where things massively accelerate and not only is there a lot of action, but huge swathes of the lore of the Dune Universe get laid out. Myth and prophecy on Arrakis collide with religious fervor and galactic politics as events spiral out of control and the future of humanity itself is put at risk.
Paul Atreides, now with the Fremen, will launch a war of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.
Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, and Stephen McKinley Henderson all return with Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam IV, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha, and Léa Seydoux as Lady Margot joining the ensemble cast.
Denis Villeneuve’s Dune Part Two has scored a PG-13 rating for sequences of strong violence, some suggestive material, and brief strong language.
Bring it on! It is near the top of the most anticipated list here at the Outpost.
