Naughty Dog’s “The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered” will launch on the PlayStation 5 on January 19th 2024 according to PSDeals (via VGC) after the title was spotted this morning appearing on PSN. Multiple screenshots, official artwork and a trailer have all leaked online.
A winner of over 300 Game of the Year awards, the new ‘remastered’ version will reportedly now boast numerous technical enhancements to make it the definitive way to play the critically acclaimed story.
Like with “The Last of Us Part 1,” it is indicated the game has been rebuilt for the PS5 console from the ground up with a host of graphical improvements, visual performance now outputting at 4K in fidelity mode, improved loading times and full DualSense controller integration.
There’s also an entirely new “No Return – A Roguelike Survival Mode” in which you must survive as long as you can in each run as you choose your path through a series of random encounters.
Players will reportedly be able to access different unlockable characters, some never-before playable in the franchise, each with unique gameplay traits.
There’s also Lost Levels which lets you explore early-development versions of three new levels not seen in the original, a Guitar Free Play mode, hours of new developer commentary, a new speed run mode, and a host of new accessibility features.
No mention is included in any of the reports about a PC version though, like with “The Last of Us Part 1,” the best guess is it’s likely to follow a few months in the wake of this release.
