A new report indicates that Marvel Studios is considering reviving a project previously thought to have been shelved – “Strange Academy”.
Around a year ago came word that Marvel was pausing development on three TV series projects that it never officially announced – a “Nova” series, “Terror, Inc.” and “Strange Academy”.
Regarding the latter, Marvel reportedly went so far as to open a writer’s room for “Strange Academy,” a show that would focus on a school for young wizards and warlocks, one founded by Doctor Strange to help young sorcerers hone their skills.
Now, scooper DanielRPK says the magic-focused TV show appears to be back in play, or more specifically, in active development with Marvel Studios seeking a new writer to bring the project to life.
The scoop follows on from reports that Marvel’s post-Secret Wars plans are going to lean heavily on mutants and magic. This scooper also indicates multiple mutant-focused projects are being considered, including a Wolverine one.
Benedict Wong’s character Wong would lead the cast of “Strange Academy,” though the actor has commitments to Netflix’s “3-Body Problem,” which is reportedly shooting its second and third seasons back-to-back and the second season is expected to wrap this month.
